Wow! How times have changed! Dental fillings today are made out of either amalgam or composite resin. According to Forbes magazine online, archaeologists found a 6,500 year old dental filling. The filling was isolated in a jaw in Slovenia..it was made from beeswax!
Luckily, in dental assisting, we don’t really learn about beeswax as a dental material, but it’s still quite interesting. Chapter 4 of our curriculum discusses different types of current dental fillings.
